Windsurfing Christmas Party
The christmas party as the name suggests was a get together of windsurfing members from my shool and others as a bonding event. The barbeque itself set the theme of beach vibes and christmas vibes, which is what i used in my poster designs for the event. I also wanted both posters to contrast each other nicely. So one was predominantly blue while the other was orange which created a nice color contrast between each

POSTER 1
Got the inspiration for this from a picture I found online of Santa windsurfing. I thought it was really funny but I didn't wanna copy it. So after some brainstorming, I decided to replace Santa's reindeers with windsurfers and recreate the classic silhouette of his sleigh in front of the moon. Added some trails below the sleigh and started working on the text. For some reason, I was really pulled towards this jagged almost graffiti font style for the piece. It's not something you typically find on Christmas cards but to me it just fit the vibe and campiness I was going for. Added some elements to it such as the hanging ball and then added a border around the piece to tie it all together
POSTER 2

For this second poster, I was a little lost initially with what to do. I didn't have a plan for this beforehand. But as I kept conceptualizing, I landed on a snow globe with a beach inside. I love surrealist art where ordinary things are turned into something bizarre. And while that usually means the art is a dark twist on reality, it can also be light hearted and fun, which is what I went for. The overall orange/yellow also contrasted with the first posters mostly blue aesthetic. And the first poster had yellow lettering on a blue background so this one had blue lettering on a yellow background. The text is also a continuation from the first. Finally, after everything came together, the piece still looked like it was missing something. So i added a snowflake border which helped bring it all together. I wanted it to almost feel like the piece was frozen in ice so the snowflakes had to be a bit more aggressive but not overpowering

At the end, both posters were printed in A3 and pasted around our bbq site
